Compliance Manager


About the role 

To provide advice and support on compliance matters to all business areas of HCF and its subsidiaries, including the management and maintenance of the compliance management framework and embedding an effective compliance culture into the decision-making processes and procedures of HCF.

To work closely with the Senior Compliance Manager to provide a cohesive and collaborative compliance team, to ensure effective and efficient compliance oversight and to work with the business to ensure their understanding, acceptance and integration of compliance into the day to day operations of their business area.

The position of Compliance Manager is responsible for providing support to the Senior Compliance Manager and includes: :

  • Ensuring all HCF compliance obligations under the Risk Management Framework are integrated into the business and meet all regulatory, legislative and business requirements;
  • Monitoring and reviewing effective and appropriate compliance management systems and processes for HCF and ensuring ongoing management and review of mandatory compliance requirements;
  • Working with the business to ensure the appropriate level of compliance training is in place and completed according to regulatory and business requirements;
  • Overseeing and managing the HCF Group Insurance Program with the support of the HCF insurance brokers;
  • Maintaining the Policy Register, including oversight of the policy review and approval process;
  • Managing stakeholder responsibilities for relevant regulatory and industry bodies, as well as Directors, Auditors and Appointed Actuaries; and
  • Undertaking legislative and regulatory monitoring and providing related business support as necessary.

About You 

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, risk, compliance, law or related business discipline
  • Experience working in APRA/ASIC regulated industry
  • Good working knowledge of current Australian privacy laws
  • Good working knowledge of the regulators and regulations relating to financial services e.g. APRA, ASIC, AFCA, OAIC, ACCC and the requirements of holding an Australian Financial Services License
  • Ability to interpret regulation and legislation, as well as standards and guidelines, and apply to the requirements of HCF
  • Experience in working with effective risk and compliance monitoring programs in financial services sector
  • Proven ability to collect relevant data and organise into relevant information, as well as applying the right tools/techniques required in the circumstances
  • Ability to make the seemingly complex - simple and practical
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal, written and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to set priorities, attention to detail and to ensure that objectives are met
  • Sound judgment applied to decision making
