The opportunity

CSIRO Information Management and Technology (IMT) is expanding its M365 Platform investment to meet growing demand for Power Platform solutions. To support current and future projects, CSIRO IMT requires a technical Power Platform functional specialist to deliver key technical activities within the Microsoft Applications team. The team employs agile practices and prioritizes continuous review and improvement, fostering innovation with the technology and autonomy needed for successful delivery.

As a technical specialist, you’ll work in a dynamic environment that welcomes change, emphasizing individuals and interactions over processes, and working solutions over extensive documentation. Collaborating with a high-performing DevOps team, you’ll contribute to delivering solutions aligned with CSIRO’s strategic and operational goals.

The role involves working with an interdisciplinary team, including developers, business analysts, testers, executive managers, and stakeholders. To succeed, you’ll need to demonstrate initiative, independence, and the ability to work collaboratively under minimal guidance to deliver impactful solutions and services.

Your duties will include:

  • Develop innovative solutions to meet requirements and provide technical advice aligned with solution architecture and frameworks.
  • Address production issues, perform routine maintenance, and complete development tasks by set deadlines.
  • Exercise sound judgment to handle unexpected or competing project priorities effectively.
  • Actively contribute to all stages of project delivery, from planning to implementation.
  • Collaborate autonomously in a regionally dispersed, multi-disciplinary team while fostering positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain strong working relationships with business owners to ensure successful outcomes.

Location: Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide

Salary: AU$131,113.00 - AU$ 153,639.00 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

Essential:

Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.

  • Minimum 5 years’ functional and technical experience.
  • Expertise in Power Platform, including configuration of:
    • Dashboards, Forms, Tables, Fields, Views
    • Business Process Flows and Security Models
    • Automation (Power Automate, Workflows, Business Rules)
  • Proven ability to handle multiple project priorities effectively.
  • Customer-focused approach to formulating solutions.
  • Proactive problem-solving under minimal guidance.
  • Strong collaboration skills with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and executing data migration plans.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and its integration with Power Platform within Microsoft 365.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Dynamics Portal Online.
  • Proficiency in Power BI.
