The Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre situated in Perth, Western Australia, is a national world-class supercomputing and high-volume data storage facility operating petascale compute and associated storage infrastructure.

The Pawsey Education & Training Manager (Manager) works with the Education and Training Specialist and across all teams at Pawsey. The role coordinates, facilitates and/or conducts face-to-face, online, and hybrid training in the areas of supercomputing, data and visualisation in conjunction with others. The Manager works with the Training Specialist and with Teams and individuals at Pawsey to create successful learning experiences.

In this role, the Manager directly oversees and contributes to the design, creation, delivery, and/or assessment of Training Programs, persons, infrastructure, and materials and may secure vendors and technical training specialists and/or partners as required.

This role works at both the operational level and strategic level (budgets, reporting, plans). The role has 4 main streams of focus:

  • Education outreach:
    • School / student / general audience focus
    • Tertiary / university focus (Pawsey’s Flagship Internship Program)
  • Pawsey user training, and
  • Internal staff training.

Your duties will include:

  • Develop strategic and operational plans – inclusive of budgets, resourcing, risk management, and reporting - for Pawsey’s Training and Education Programs and have significant independence of action.
  • Take responsibility for effective team performance, including the development of team members and the wider upskilling of Pawsey teams and individuals.
  • Direct and coordinate complex Training/Education Projects and undertake development, implementation or standardisation of procedures and techniques, including reusable, scalable, and safe training platforms.
  • Using specialist expertise, make innovative contributions to not only Pawsey’s upskilling Programs but also local, national, and international HPC / STEM communities.
  • Take overall responsibility for the quality of the training outcomes delivered, using the Training Lifecycle as a guide to producing targeted results.
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in Training and Education Program development to deliver memorable and authentic training/education experiences.

Salary: AU$126,313k - AU$148,014k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

Essential:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Teaching and Learning or demonstrated significant experience in tertiary level education in a related field.
  2. Demonstrated experience delivering engaging training experiences to multiple audiences (e.g., students, teachers, Pawsey users, etc.), and consolidating those disparate experiences into a holistic Training Plan with complementary Programs.
  3. Demonstrated experience in working efficiently and innovatively across the entire training lifecycle to deliver new training and/or materials.
  4. Demonstrated ability to collect and use data effectively to report Training outcomes against Key Performance Indicators, and to guide continuous improvement in future offerings.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work creatively and effectively with other Trainers and/or Institutions internally and externally to extend HPC Training and STEM Education reach and to keep current on trends in HPC and STEM Teaching and Learning.
