Operator - Flu Cell Culture
The Opportunity
CSL Seqirus is looking for FCC (Flu Cell Culture) Operator at our Tullamarine site (Project Banksia) on a 12-month fixed term contract. The scope of Project Banksia is to deliver compliant, fit for purpose manufacturing facilities and processes for Cell Culture derived Influenza Vaccine (FCC), Antivenom (AV), Q Fever Vaccine (QFV) bulk and formulation manufacture at the site.
NOTE – Multiple positions available.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for executing the FCC process during the commissioning and qualification of the FCC facility and process.
The role will encompass rotating shift (day/night) and may involve overtime/weekend work.
Your role will involve regular manual handling, prolonged periods of standing, and repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and performing routine motions throughout the shift.
The Role
The initial responsibility is on the Banksia project. During this project, you will process focusing on learning the manufacturing process and equipment, working closely with the FCC team executing project deliverables, and training other technicians.
- Support and complete project related activities such as writing SOPs, creating training material, performing risk assessments, reviewing documents, etc.
- Assembly, set-up, and disassembly of production equipment: This includes intermediate bottles, filters, addition cans, sample assemblies and other equipment.
- Operation of manufacturing equipment such as:
- Upstream: Bioreactors (Shake Flasks, Single Use Bag Reactors, Stainless Steel Bioreactors), Harvest Centrifugation, Harvest Filtration, Virus Seed Preparation, Aseptic Operator Qualified Operations.
- Downstream: Ultrafiltration/Diafiltration, Chromatography, Column Packing, Ultracentrifugation, Small Volume Solutions Preparation, Adsorption Processing.
- Support: Parts Washers, Autoclaves, Weighing and Dispensing, Buffer/Media Preparation, Small Volume Solution Preparation.
- Formulation/Adjuvant: Small Volume Solution Preparation, Buffer Preparation, Formulation in Single Use Mixers, Microfluidizer, Sterile Filtration.
- Cleaning, preparing, and sterilizing production equipment using automated cycles.
- Operating benchtop equipment such as: pH meters, peristaltic pumps, scales, mixers, etc.
- Understanding of process automation systems and advanced user of electronic business systems (e.g, PCS, MES, LIMS, SAP) and effectively perform operational tasks utilizing these systems.
- Routine cleaning of plant and production work areas.
- Recognizing issues and effectively solving minor atypical process issues
- Perform tasks associated with pharmaceutical production such as inventory control, problem solving and documentation update/review.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science or related field.
- Demonstrated manufacturing experience in food, pharmaceutical, automotive or aircraft industry will be highly valued.
- IVV experience, with depth of experience in Afluria manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of cGMP and manufacturing operations in FDA/TGA regulated facility.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative, autonomy, and learning agility.
- Strong problem solving, creative thinking, and effective decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and contribute to the objectives of the team and the business.
- Previous experience with automation systems preferred.
