Field Lead
Ventia is looking for an experienced Field Lead to join our Defence Base Services contract in Darwin, NT. If you're a tradesperson with a background in Carpentry, Plumbing, Building, or General Maintenance and you're ready to step off the tools into a leadership role, this is your opportunity!
Based at Robertson Barracks, this position offers you the chance to apply your trade expertise in a management capacity, overseeing the maintenance, repair, and integrity of facilities and equipment for the Defence contract. You'll move from hands-on work to coordinating teams, managing key stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities:

Incident & Outage Management: Coordinate and manage first response and on-site ground control for Estate Upkeep outages affecting asset availability.

Permit to Work System: Implement and issue the Ventia Permit to Work System. Conduct audits of safety documentation and Operational Process Confirmations as needed.

Quality Control: Engage in subcontractor and project management quality control, ensuring work scope completion and value-for-money assessments.

Site Access Coordination: Facilitate site access for subcontractors, including inductions, provision of drawings/maps, and escort services.

Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with key client and customer representatives on-base.

Data & Reporting: Ensure timely entry of work information into relevant systems and databases.

Other Duties: Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Infrastructure Services Manager.
Skills & Experience:

Qualifications & Experience: Trade or tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience in one of the following fields: Carpentry, Building, Plumbing, or General Maintenance (Handyperson).

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, customers, and team members.

Technical Proficiency: Competence in using Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software tools. Experience with the Permit to Work System is highly desirable.

High-Risk Qualifications: Qualifications in at least one high-risk discipline are a plus.

Licence Requirements: A current Australian driver’s licence is essential.
