Enterprise Services & Automation Manager


The Enterprise Services and Automation Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of professionals dedicated to the build, implementation, automation, and support for core platforms and systems. This role ensures that enterprise applications and tools are robust, secure, and capable of supporting HCF business operations effectively.

Overview:

The Enterprise Services & Automation Manager leads a team responsible for the build, implementation, automation, and support of HCF’s core platforms and enterprise systems. While the team has historically focused on L3 support for the core health platform, it is now evolving into a broader enterprise services function. This transition aims to deliver consistent, scalable, and secure operational capabilities across all business units.

The role is pivotal in driving operational excellence through automation, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement. It acts as a key liaison between business system owners, development teams, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment of goals, service quality, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ultimate objective is to enhance service reliability, reduce manual effort, and support business growth through streamlined, automated operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals responsible for the build, implementation, automation, and support for core platforms, applications and systems.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring service quality and alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee contract management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Work closely with business system owners and development teams, as well as other key stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals, and effective collaboration on projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee the automation of tasks using tools such as Azure DevOps, Ansible, UiPath, and scripting languages like Shell, Python, and PowerShell to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Facilitate the setup of CI/CD processes for development teams on various applications, to improve collaboration and efficiency in delivering software and services.
  • Manage escalations to the team for complex and critical issues, including in-depth analysis and root cause identification.
  • Manage the on-boarding and lifecycle for new products, applications and services, ensuring they are captured in the CMDB.
  • Oversee relationships with technology vendors, including contract management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure service quality and alignment with business needs.
  • Ensure the optimal and secure running of core applications, including performance tuning, regular updates and service continuity requirements are being met.
  • Establish and maintain detailed documentation and knowledge bases to support ongoing operations and future troubleshooting.
  • Perform work in a manner that complies with relevant regulatory standards including Work Health & Safety (WHS) legislation.
  • Actively participate in all regulatory compliance activities associated with this role including required training, meetings and information sessions.


Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team of senior IT professionals.
  • Strong vendor management skills, including contract management and performance monitoring.
  • Strong experience in managing team augmentation with 3rd party service delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of server operating systems and containers.
  • Strong incident and change management skills, as well as managing escalations and major incidents.
  • Demonstratable proactive monitoring and performance optimisation skills.
  • Excellent documentation and knowledge management skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.


Desirable Skills

  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or similar.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining a CMDB.
  • Knowledge of advanced security practices and standards.
  • Experience in a similar role within a large APRA regulated organisation.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and requirements.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Azure DevOps, Ansible, UiPath, and scripting languages like Shell, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Demonstratable experience with SUSE, RedHat, Windows Server and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in managing the lifecycle of software and applications.
  • Experience in cloud migrations and modernisation programs, specifically with AWS and Azure.
