HVAC Leading Hand


The Role
Ventia is seeking to engage a qualified and experienced HVAC Leading Hand to be part of their close-knit Defence Team based at RAAF Base Pearce in Bullsbrook, WA. Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, this role will see you working alongside and leading a small crew performing planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of systems, facilities, and equipment including HVAC.


This position is a full-time permanent role, working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00am – 03:30pm (with paid overtime opportunities) and 1x RDO (Rostered Day Off) per month. A company car (Tool of Trade vehicle) will also be provided for travel to and from the base each day.


The payrate for this position is $48.56 per hour + penalty rates + allowances.


To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check.

Key duties, but not limited to: 

  • Lead a team of HVAC technicians to ensure efficient and effective installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems
  • Supervision of in-house staff and subcontractors to contribute to overall site maintenance
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems
  • Contribute to overall site maintenance
  • Perform reactive and planned preventative maintenance and testing as required via Mobility (iPad)
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent


Skills & Experience:

  • WA Driver’s Licence
  • Trade qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • Refrigerant Handling Licence
  • Competent using the MS Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc)
  • Knowledge or experience with SAP or similar – Highly regarded
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the different metro & remote defence sites as required
