We're excited to announce an opening for a Manager Generation Coordination within Snowy Hydro, a role that sits at the heart of our operations. In this role, you'll work closely with the Manager Generation Operations, to support the 24/7 remote operations of the Snowy Scheme's assets including generating, pumping and hydraulic assets, Gas Turbines, and Diesel Generators ensuring they meet market demands in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. You will play a critical role in maximising our operational efficiency and helping our team meet regulatory and commercial requirements.
In this role, you will:
- Support the 24/7 management of generation operations, stepping in for the Manager Generation Operations as needed.
- Coordinate the scheduling of capability-impacting outages, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Work closely with Production Area/Plant Managers, Engineering, Water, and Commercial teams to optimise resource use and meet market requirements within regulatory and water plan obligations.
- Lead business-wide outage scheduling, establishing processes and forums to streamline planning and communication.
- Approve outage programs to minimise revenue impact, supporting revenue goals while mitigating commercial and regulatory risks.
- Develop and apply real-time optimisation tools to enhance operating efficiency.
- Foster situational awareness through modelling and operational tools that support effective decision-making.
- Improve operational instructions and systems, providing essential technical input for plant and system designs.
- Play an active role in recruiting and mentoring team members within the Generation Operations group, assessing and supporting team development.
- Share expertise and provide training to teams across Snowy Hydro, including the regional SCADA operations.
What we're looking for:
- Proven leadership experience in a control room role
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline is desirable
- Understanding of the National Electric Rules (NER), National Electricity Market (NEM) operations, and the Snowy Scheme
- Previous experience in multi-purpose hydroelectric and gas turbine generation, with a strong grasp of maintenance and operational optimisation
- Strong analytical abilities and sound decision-making skills, particularly in dynamic environments
- Skilled in communication and adept at handling high-stakes discussions with clarity and insight
- The ability to lead development and improvement projects in SCADA and corporate systems
- Proficiency in mathematical optimisation, decision-support systems, and SCADA/communication systems
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and reliable under pressure
