About the role:
The Major Developments Planning Manager is responsible for planning for the provision of services to support the responsible expansion of Unitywater’s water and sewerage networks to meet population growth including the establishment of any necessary infrastructure agreements that are required to ensure equitable assignment of cost and responsibility for delivery of necessary infrastructure.
  
As a leader working across the business, this position is key to ensuring engagement of stakeholders to deliver outcomes. Leading a small team, you will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Managers to develop, implement, and manage internal and external stakeholders in relation to our strategic planning and asset reliability. The role requires the following:

  • Being at the forefront of planning of long-term infrastructure to service our rapidly growing region.
  • Be a leader in sustainability and the delivery of liveable communities on the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions.
  • Work with Councils, State government and other key stakeholders to deliver high quality emerging communities.
  • Be a leader within the development industry, with a strong network and active participation in industry groups.
  • Report to executives and the Board on risk and development triggers.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions of water infrastructure agreements to mitigate financial risk while providing reasonable terms for timely progression of planned development.
  • Working with the Planning and Engineering teams to deliver the required Concept and Detailed Business Cases to support investment in projects.

  • Engineering degree with significant experience within a utilities or an infrastructure environment, and a focus on asset planning.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure planning, demand forecasting, and water industry regulatory environment.
  • Previous experience leading a team is preferable, and the ability to identify where technical, social, or commercial processes need improvement and implement what is required to ensure outcomes are delivered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with experience in liaising and consulting at Board and Executive level, and with Developers and other internal and external stakeholders.
