Safety Advisor - Rigs and Well Services Contract (Oil & Gas)


About the Role
 

Are you an experienced Safety Advisor looking to move into the oil and gas industry? Ventia is looking for a dedicated Safety Advisor to join our team on the Rigs and Well Services contract. Based in Toowoomba, you will drive out to remote sites to support operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assisting and mentoring the onsite crew in implementing our health and safety management system.
 

We are looking for a professional with a passion for promoting safe and healthy working practices, along with a keen eye for identifying potential hazards and mitigating risks. In return, you’ll enjoy a great work-life balance with our 2-week on, 2-week off roster (15:13 roster).
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onsite Safety Oversight: Implement and monitor the Health and Safety Management System to ensure compliance across operations.
  • Incident Investigations: Lead and conduct thorough investigations (ICAM or equivalent) into any safety incidents to determine root causes and drive improvements.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Identify potential hazards and recommend practical solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Onsite Mentoring: Guide and support the onsite crew in maintaining high safety standards and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Flexibility: Due to the nature of the work, you’ll need to adapt to changing priorities and, at times, be called out to remote sites at short notice.


Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, preferably in high-risk industries like oil and gas.
  • Experience in incident investigations (ICAM or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound understanding of safety risk management and control processes.
