Job Description

Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery employs around 700 people and supplies over 50 percent of Victoria’s and 10 percent of Australia’s fuel.

The refinery can process up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day, manufacturing petrol, diesel, LPG, jet fuel, avgas, bitumen, specialty solvents for a wide range of industries. We now have a great opportunity for a dual trade Instrument/Electrical Planner to join the team. This is a full-time, permanent role.

The Instrument / Electrical Planner is a critical and essential to the safe and reliable operation of the refinery. In this role you will work within the Engineering Services team at the Geelong Refinery to directly support our Asset teams as the first port of call for Instrument and Electrical Engineering support and developing meaningful work plans. You will respond to equipment breakdowns with our engineering services team and provide condition based repair and replacement scopes.

Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Services Lead, you will:

  • Develop and maintain detailed work plans for instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and engineering services teams to ensure alignment of work schedules.
  • Review and analyse technical documentation to identify scope and resources required for work packs.
  • Prepare and manage work packages, including risk assessments and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for procurement and service delivery.
  • Monitor and report on work progress, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain planning tools and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide recommendations for best practices.
  • Manage compliance to our instrument and electrical safeguarding testing procedures.
  • Develop and execute engineering services intervention and Turnaround scopes.

Qualifications

About you

  • You are post-trade experienced in electrical / instrumentation engineering.
  • Hold effective communication and coordination skills and the ability to work across numerous stakeholders.
  • Ideally experienced working within major projects, heavy industry and/or a manufacturing environment.
  • A sound working knowledge of instrument and electrical assets, particularly their maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of MMS (Maintenance Management Systems), SAP, JDE etc.
  • Highly competent and able to plan and manage your time.
