We have a permanent full-time opportunity based in Kalgoorlie for a Team Leader – Civil.

You will be leading, developing, motivating, and managing a team of competent employees providing water and wastewater services to customers within the district/region.

Without compromising health and safety, responsible for organising and prioritising work across unplanned and planned activities and operational needs.

The role may have you working overtime hours or being on standby or call-out (should it be required).

We offer a 9-day fortnight work roster so that you can enjoy an RDO (3-day weekend) each fortnight!

What the role will involve:

Leading the team safety initiatives including team meetings, Safe Job Planning, workplace inspection and hazard identification, incident management and addressing safety improvements within the team.

Ensuring that all work is undertaken with safety as the priority including conducting regular safety talks and personal inspection of PPE, fitness for work status and general well-being.

Pro-actively managing employee performance, level of professional competence and behaviour.

Managing day to day resource management/workload management.

Building employee capability through mentoring, coaching, training opportunities, supervision, and knowledge transfer.

Ensuring operation and maintenance of assets with the development and implementation of plans.

Building an effective team, team communication and commitment to continuous improvement.

Undertaking site visits/inspections and be visible in the district with the team.

Monitoring and reporting on the financial and business performance of the team.

Key skills and experience:

  • Completion of Certificate III in Water Operations or Trades qualification equivalent
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to OSH procedures.
  • Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence
  • A willingness to participate in training and development programs.
  • Experience in water supply and wastewater systems – desirable
